“Drea” Andrea Smith is a native of the Washington DC metropolitan area and was extremely excited to have a chance to work in radio. She is currently the music director and on-air personality on “The System” for World Space and XM Satellite Radio. She is also currently on-air for “RIFF” channel 222, a jazz channel on WorldSpace. Always having a love and passion for all types of music, she began her career as a board operator for WYCB 1340, and quickly received an opportunity to be on-air. For a year and a half she was the voice Monday thru Friday as the midday personality of WYCB 1340 “The Spirit of Today’s Gospel”.
Andrea was not just the midday voice of WYCB, but she was fortunate to have had the opportunity to branch out to most of the other stations at Radio One, Inc. by doing local and national commercials and promos for WKYS, WMMJ, WOL, and XM satellite radio.
A woman who’s always been interested in health and fitness, Andrea was enthused when she got an opportunity to produce her own weekly health segment “A Few Minutes For Your Health” which discussed health issues that concern African Americans.
Aspiring to break into television and theater, Andrea took the initiative and volunteered to do fundraising promos for WHUT TV, in Washington DC, and was also a 2 time contestant on a national dating show. In 2007 she was cast in a small role in a local theater piece called “The Inner Sleeve”.
Andrea loves to be in the community and at events from time to time she volunteers at a homeless shelter in Virginia. This former jet beauty of the week is a hard working, fun loving, and a determined woman who plans to take this industry by storm. There is no telling where you may see her next.
Armed with the motto, success is preparation and opportunity meeting. This young lady is definitely prepared for all the success that is coming her way!!
